oliemat-sm50
Oil Mat - Portwest SM50

The Portwest hydrophobic oil mat, model SM50, is specially designed for hydraulic engineers and professionals who require effective spill control in the workplace. This absorbent mat is extremely suitable for the quick and targeted collection of oily liquids without absorbing water. Thanks to its targeted action, the working environment remains clean and safe, which is essential during maintenance work on machines and hydraulic systems.

For which specific work environments and applications is this Portwest SM50 oil mat most suitable?

This absorbent mat is pre-eminently suitable for industrial workshops, the shipping industry, automotive sectors, and locations where hydraulic systems are maintained. Because the mat is hydrophobic, it floats on water while attracting and retaining only oil and other hydrocarbons.

This makes the product indispensable for leaks on water surfaces or in damp outdoor environments. Engineers can use it to control spills in a targeted manner without losing absorption capacity to surrounding moisture, which ensures highly efficient cleaning in the workplace.

What do the BS 7959 standards mean for the operation and effectiveness of this oil mat?

The mat complies with the BS 7959-1, BS 7959-2, and BS 7959-3 standards, which guarantees that the material has been officially tested for absorption capacity and suitability for fluid control. This certification confirms that the mat is resistant to specific liquids and maintains its structure during use.

The open-edge design supports this standardization by ensuring extremely rapid absorption of liquids. As a result, the mat reacts immediately to acute leaks, which effectively prevents further spread of the contamination.

With a compact size of 50 by 40 centimeters, this mat offers a convenient and flexible solution that can easily be placed under machines.

Features:

50cm x 40cm

Absorbs 0.5 litres

Standards: BS 7959-1, BS 7959-2, BS 7959-3
