thermische-basislaag-broek-b131
Thermal Base Layer Trousers - Portwest B131

The Portwest B131 thermal base layer trousers are designed to be worn directly against the skin as the first layer under workwear. This model is intended for professionals working in cold conditions who need warmth without bulky extra layers. The outer material is made of 100% moisture-wicking polyester with a weight of 140 g/m², which draws moisture away from the skin and helps maintain a stable body temperature.

For what type of work are the Portwest B131 thermal base layer trousers suitable?

The B131 is suitable for work in cold or variable temperatures, such as construction, logistics, outdoor work, and warehouse work in refrigerated spaces.

The trousers function as a first layer under work trousers or overalls and add warmth without restricting freedom of movement. Because the polyester actively wicks away moisture, the skin stays drier than with a cotton base layer, which helps prevent cooling from sweat. This also makes the B131 suitable for physically active work in the cold.

When should you choose the Portwest B131 base layer trousers instead of a heavier thermal model?

The B131 is a lightweight base layer weighing 140 g/m² and is therefore most suitable when moderate cold is combined with physical activity, where excessive sweating is a risk.

In extremely cold conditions or during prolonged periods of standing still, a heavier thermal model may provide more insulation. In that case, the B131 can be used as the base layer in a multi-layer system, with a warmer mid-layer complementing the insulation. The choice therefore depends on the working temperature and activity level.

The trousers have a close-fitting cut for a good fit under workwear and can be washed at a maximum of 40°C on a mild cycle.

Material and care:

Outer material: 100% moisture-wicking polyester (140 g/m²)

Washing instructions: Max wash temp 40°C, mild process.
