Blijft een vlamvertragende jas na het wassen beschermen?

Ja, mits je hem volgens het waslabel wast. Bij stoffen met een vlamvertragende behandeling geeft de fabrikant aan voor hoeveel wasbeurten de bescherming geldt; bij inherent vlamvertragende vezels zit de eigenschap in het garen zelf. Gebruik geen wasverzachter of bleekmiddel en verwijder olie- en vetvlekken goed, omdat die kunnen gaan branden.

Hoe moet een vlamvertragende jas passen?

Ruim genoeg om vrij te bewegen, maar niet zo ruim dat hij ergens achter blijft haken. De mouwen moeten je polsen bedekken als je je armen strekt, en de jas moet zo ver over de broek vallen dat er bij bukken geen opening ontstaat. Draag hem altijd gesloten, met de kraag dicht als er vonken kunnen vallen.
