S4 safety shoes are fully waterproof safety boots made from a single piece of polymer, with a protective toe cap, antistatic construction and an energy-absorbing heel in accordance with EN ISO 20345. They are intended for work in water, mud, washdown areas and the food industry.

The range is small: three Portwest boots, one classic boot and two models for the food sector, one of which is made of PU. All three have an oil-resistant sole and cold insulation. An S4 boot does not have a penetration-resistant sole.

When do you need an S4 boot?

Once your feet are actually standing in water, no leather shoe keeps them dry. An S4 boot is moulded from a single piece of rubber or PVC and is therefore fully waterproof, with a protective toe cap against 200 joules. Typical work: rinsing and cleaning, agricultural work, fish processing and temporary work in flooded spaces.

Rubber, PVC and comfort

Rubber is more supple, warmer and more pleasant for long days; PVC is more affordable and resistant to many chemicals. Always wear moisture-wicking socks and let the boots dry at room temperature after use. If there's also shards or nails on your work site, choose an S5 boot with a penetration-resistant sole.

What's the difference between S4 and S5?

Both are fully waterproof rubber or PVC boots with a protective toe cap, anti-static construction and energy-absorbing heel. S5 additionally has a penetration-resistant sole and a profiled outsole. If you work in terrain where nails or shards could be lying around, S5 is the right choice.

Are rubber or PVC boots better?

Rubber is more supple, more comfortable to wear over long days and better resistant to cold. PVC is cheaper and resistant to many chemicals. If you work with specific substances, check the chemical resistance of the material before choosing.

Wat betekenen de codes FO en CI op een S4-laars?

FO betekent dat de buitenzool bestand is tegen olie en brandstof, zodat hij niet opzwelt of verweekt. CI staat voor koude-isolatie: de zool is getest op hoe goed hij je voet beschermt tegen een koude ondergrond. Alle drie de laarzen in deze collectie hebben zowel FO als CI.

Zijn S4-laarzen geschikt voor de voedingsindustrie?

Ja, twee van de drie laarzen in deze collectie zijn speciaal bedoeld voor de voedingssector. Ze zijn gemaakt voor hygiënisch werk en makkelijk schoon te spuiten. Werk je in een koelcel, dan helpt de koude-isolatie van de zool om je voeten warmer te houden.

Hoe maak ik S4-laarzen schoon?

Spuit vuil na elke dienst af met lauw water en eventueel een mild reinigingsmiddel. Gebruik geen agressieve oplosmiddelen tenzij de laars daarvoor is getest. Laat de laarzen daarna rechtop drogen op kamertemperatuur, niet op de verwarming of in de zon, zodat het materiaal niet uitdroogt of scheurt.
