Waterproof yet breathable

Good rainwear combines a waterproof rating of at least 5,000 mm water column with a breathable inner layer, so sweat moisture can escape while rain stays out. Sealed seams prevent leaks at the most vulnerable points of the garment.

Combining with warmth and visibility

In cold weather, rainwear is best worn over a lined layer from Thermal/Freezer. If you also work alongside roads or in the dark, choose a version from High visibility with reflective stripes.

Caring for waterproof clothing

Wash rainwear at a low temperature and occasionally treat the outer layer with a waterproofing spray to renew its water repellency; this significantly extends the life of the coating.

How do I extend the life of my rain jacket?

Wash the jacket at a low temperature without fabric softener, and re-treat the outer layer with waterproofing spray regularly once water no longer beads off in droplets.

Is a rain coverall more practical than a jacket with trousers?
