Description

The Portwest AS10 antistatic ESD jacket is a protective work jacket that dissipates static electricity, thereby protecting sensitive electronic components and environments. The jacket is intended for employees in the electronics industry, semiconductor manufacturing, and other ESD-sensitive work environments. The outer material consists of a blend of 65% polyester, 34% cotton, and 1% conductive fiber with a weight of 210 g/m².

In which sectors and working conditions is the Portwest AS10 antistatic ESD jacket suitable?

The AS10 is suitable for work environments where the buildup of static electricity poses a risk to products, equipment, or safety, such as electronics assembly, semiconductor manufacturing, laboratories, and cleanrooms.

The conductive fiber in the fabric ensures that static charge is continuously dissipated instead of building up. This makes the jacket suitable for sectors where strict ESD control is required, such as automotive electronics, medical equipment, and defense electronics. The jacket complies with EN 1149-5 and EN 61340-5-1, the current European standards for antistatic protective clothing.

What do the standards EN 1149-5 and EN 61340-5-1 mean for the AS10 antistatic ESD jacket, and when should you choose this model?

EN 1149-5 is the European standard for antistatic protective clothing and sets requirements for the electrical resistance and charge decay of the clothing material. EN 61340-5-1 specifically focuses on the protection of electronic components against electrostatic discharge and defines the performance limits for ESD work environments.

Choose the AS10 when your work environment is formally ESD-controlled and clothing must demonstrably comply with both standards. Unlike a standard work jacket, the AS10 offers a structural, washable antistatic function due to the integrated conductive fiber, which is maintained even after repeated washing, provided the washing instructions are followed.

The jacket can be washed at a maximum of 60°C and ironed at a maximum of 150°C, allowing for regular industrial maintenance.
