Description

The Portwest AS11 antistatic ESD trousers are protective work trousers that prevent electrostatic discharge thanks to an outer material made of 65% polyester, 34% cotton and 1% conductive fiber (210 g/m²). The trousers are certified according to EN 1149-5 and EN 61340-5-1 and are intended for employees working in environments where static electricity can cause damage to products, equipment or processes.

In which sectors and working conditions are the Portwest AS11 antistatic ESD trousers suitable?

The AS11 is suitable for work environments where electrostatic discharge poses a risk, such as the electronics industry, semiconductor manufacturing, pharmaceutical production and potentially explosive atmospheres.

In these sectors, a static spark can lead to damage to sensitive components or even ignite flammable substances. The conductive fiber in the material ensures that accumulated charge is safely discharged. The trousers are therefore part of a complete ESD protection system, which usually also includes antistatic footwear and clothing.

What do the EN 1149-5 and EN 61340-5-1 standards mean for the Portwest AS11 antistatic ESD trousers?

EN 1149-5 is the European standard for the electrostatic properties of protective clothing and sets requirements for the surface resistance and charge distribution of the material. EN 61340-5-1 is an international standard specifically aimed at protecting electronic components against electrostatic discharge.

Together, these certifications guarantee that the AS11 meets the requirements for use in controlled ESD environments. Unlike standard work trousers, this garment has been tested and approved for professional applications where static charge must be demonstrably controlled.

The AS11 can be washed at up to 60°C and ironed at a maximum of 150°C, allowing for regular professional cleaning.
