Description
The Portwest B171 Dynamic Air thermal underwear is a technical base layer that retains heat and wicks moisture away quickly. It is designed for professionals working outdoors or in cold environments at low temperatures. The combination of polyamide, polypropylene and elastane provides a close-fitting fit that does not restrict freedom of movement.
For what type of work is the Portwest B171 Dynamic Air thermal underwear suitable?
The Portwest B171 is suitable for outdoor work and cold working environments where body temperature needs to be maintained, such as in construction, logistics, agriculture or road management.
As a base layer, it is worn directly against the skin, under a mid-layer or outer jacket. Thanks to the moisture-wicking properties of polypropylene, the skin remains dry, even during physical exertion. This prevents cooling due to sweat and makes the underwear suitable for varying activity levels throughout the workday.
What does EN 14058 class 1 mean for this thermal underwear and when should you choose the B171?
EN 14058 is the European standard for garments that protect against cold environments. Class 1 represents a thermal resistance of 0.102 m².K/W, which corresponds to a Clo value of 0.7. This is a light insulation value, intended as the first layer in a multi-layer clothing system.
Choose the B171 when you need a thin, close-fitting base layer that fits under workwear without adding bulk. Unlike a heavier thermal layer, this model is also suitable for moderate cold or when the wearer moves a lot and excessive sweating is a risk.
The underwear is made of 245 g/m² fabric and contains elastane for stretch. Wash at a maximum of 40 °C, do not tumble dry.
