When do you choose a high model?

On rubble, in a construction pit, on scaffolding or in mud: wherever your foot can twist sideways, ankle support is valuable. The higher shaft limits sideways movement and stops sand and small stones from getting into your shoe. For work in the cold, a high model is also noticeably warmer.

Mind the closure and fit

A high shoe needs to fasten securely, otherwise your heel will still slide. Look at the lacing system or a dial closure and a padded shaft edge that doesn't cut into your calf. Feel free to compare with the low models and the work boots.

Veelgestelde vragen

Does a high work shoe really give more ankle support?

A high model limits sideways movement of the ankle and thereby reduces the chance of spraining it on uneven ground. It doesn't replace good muscle strength and a sturdy sole, but on rubble, scaffolding and loose ground most people notice the difference immediately.

Are high shoes warmer than low ones?

Yes, there's more material around your foot and ankle, which can feel warm in summer. There are high models with breathable textile inserts, though. If you work indoors on a flat floor, a low model is often more comfortable.
