What kind of work is S1 made for?
S1 shoes are intended for indoor use, on a dry and clean floor: assembly, machine operation, warehouse, workshop and logistics. Since the upper doesn't need to be water-repellent, manufacturers can use lighter and more breathable materials, which makes a difference over a long day on your feet.
The anti-static construction discharges static build-up in a controlled way. That's different from an ESD shoe: stricter limits apply for electronics workplaces.
When do you step up to S1P or S3?
As soon as there could be nails, screws or glass on the floor, S1P is the minimum. If you also work outdoors or on wet floors, S3 is the logical step.
