Everything you need to know about safety footwear
Safety footwear protects your feet against hazards in the workplace, such as falling objects, punctures, slipping, or chemicals. In Europe, safety footwear must comply with the EN ISO 20345 standard.
Common safety classes
- S1 – closed heel area, antistatic, energy absorption in the heel area, oil- and petrol-resistant sole. For example, check out the Compositelite Volga Safety Trainer S1P Portwest FC09
- S1P – same as S1, with an additional penetration-resistant midsole
- S2 – same as S1, with water-resistant upper leather
- S3 – same as S2, with a penetration-resistant midsole and a cleated outsole, such as the Eco Composite Trainer S3S SR Portwest FC07
Choosing the right size
Safety footwear can fit slightly differently depending on the brand. Are you unsure about your size? Check our size charts or request fit samples before placing a large order.
Maintenance
Regular cleaning, letting them air dry at room temperature (not near a heater), and timely waterproofing significantly extend the lifespan of your safety footwear.
